About Slovenia

With approximately 2 million inhabitants, Slovenia is a rather small, but a beautiful, colorful country. You find everything in one place: from high mountains and beautiful countryside, to the seaside – all less than a 2-hour drive away. The capital of Slovenia is Ljubljana. The bordering countries are: Austria (north), Hungary (east), Croatia (south), and Italy (west).

Slovenia became a member of the EU on the 1st May 2004.

Gorenjska region

Most important cities in Gorenjska region are Kranj, Kranjska Gora, Bled, Bohinj. In this region lies Mount Triglav, Slovenia’s highest mountain, and Triglav National Park. This region offers many hiking places, ski resorts such as in Kranjska Gora, Vogel, Kobla, then there is Planica, where World Cup ski jumping competitions are held each year.
